We mentioned in our previous post that it all began with leadership courses organised by EMBO. Well, those leadership and laboratory management courses were and still are are a cornerstone of our course portfolio. The list of open courses for 2013 was recently published on the EMBO website and most of them are already closed. So, do hurry if you want to still have one of few remaining open spots.
The courses are always perceived very well and we get lots of positive feedback. Below a screenshot from a Facebook group of EMBO fellows who took part and commented on their experiences:
In addition to courses for postdocs and group leader, we are starting a new course this year, specifically for female leaders in science. We are aware that women are grossly underrepresented in leadership positions in academia and we want to act on this. The goal of the course is to help participants build self-confidence, establish authority, deal with rejection, improve the ability to network and build negotiation skills (sic). The three-day course is in June this year and few remaining places are still available.
