Through working with many labs as a bench scientist and later as a research administrator, I have seen firsthand the profound impact that sound leadership and management practices have on the pursuit of scientific inquiry.  However, academic training in the sciences seldom includes learning how to manage the human component of doing research. Through my work as a trainer, I can foster an awareness of practical skills that leaders can use to help their team members become their best, most productive selves.  In this way, I hope to effect positive change in scientific culture.
