Medya studied molecular biology and bioiformatics at University of Skövde (Sweden) and UC Berkeley (USA). She obtained her PhD in biomedical sciences from University of Pompeu Farbra (Barcelona, Spain), which was supported by the Marie Curie training program. She moved on for a post-doctroral research in airway histopathology at Lund University (Sweden). She is currently engaged in airway disease and human ILC immunobiology research, at Academic Medical Center (Amsterdam, NL).

During her free time Medya enjoys photography and spending time in nature, especially hiking and rock climbing.
